13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass side-glancing googly eyes, thick black eye liner, short painted side lashes, angled brows with ochre shading, rounded nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with impish smile on shaded lips, brunette mohair bobbed wig over plaster pate, composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: F made in Germany 10 JDK 221 Ges Gesch. Comments: Kestner, circa 1912, the rare model was inspired by the Kewpie design of Rose O'Neill and bears a remarkable resemblance to that doll (see #45, opposite page). Value Points: superb example of the beloved googly with original wig, pate, body, body finish, romper costume included.
