Description
16" (41 cm.) A bisque shoulder head doll with blue glass eyes, open mouth, blonde mohair wig, is arranged upon a ball-shaped body with maple wood stick handle. The ball contains a musical movement, and the doll is costumed lavishly in rose, blue and ivory silk with fringed and velvet ball trim. When twirled around, music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: for the French market, circa 1900, the marottes were popular party favors at the end of the 19th century. Value Points: especially lavish example with well-functioning music.
