Description
13" (33 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck, blonde painted boyish hair with sculpting detail, intaglio blue side-glancing eyes, white eyedots, painted eye liner and one-stroke tapered brows, closed mouth with tiny "O" hole between the lips as though puckered for whistling, muslin body with torso bellows that, when squeezed, causes the doll to "whistle", antique costume, saddle shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Heubach (in square) 8776 Germany. Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1912, their model marketed as "Whistling Jim". Value Points: rare character with wonderfully sculpted features, working whistle.
