18" (46 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head with flat-cut neck socket on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, swivel mechanism allows the head to turn side to side but not completely around, cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark rich eye liner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, pale accented lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, kid gusset-jointed poupee body with bisque arms to above the elbows, finely sculpted hands with slightly cupped fingers, defined knuckles and nails, wearing lovely antique dress, undergarments, leather boots signed C.C., silk bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J. Depose. Comments: circa 1865, a system for articulating the head in this realistic manner was deposed by Adelaide Huret in 1861; the "J" initial may refer to Pierre-Francois Jumeau who commissioned the production of the model. Value Points: very beautiful poupee with rare swivel head attachment, gorgeous bisque and painting, rare body style.
