16" (41 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, gleaming amber complexion, brown glass inset eyes, black painted eyeliner, painted black lashes and feathered brushstroked brows, rose blushed eyelids and cheeks, closed mouth with painted teeth between the outlined lips, pierced ears, dark brunette human hair wig, amber-tinted Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body, antique costume. Marks: 121. Comments: Sonneberg, mystery maker, circa 1882, the doll closely resembles the "circle dot" model of Bru whose market it sought to capture. Value Points: rare doll with superb gleaming amber complexion, rare model. Private collection Merle Glickman.
