Description
The unusual costume features a blue and red fitted woolen jacket with elaborate brass buttons and French red, white and blue rosette, along with red, white and blue heavy homespun skirt, and a tulle coiffe with wide ruffled lace edging trimmed with gold silk ribbons. The costume is of the Vivandiere, the nurse who aided wounded battlefield soldiers during the Franco/Prussian War of 1870. The costume was displayed in the windows of Paris doll store, Au Nain Bleu. Suitable costuming for very large doll, 30" overall length, 10" shoulder width. Circa 1900
