19" (48 cm.) Paper mache bulldog with flocked finish, well-defined musculature, original leather collar and ruff, black ears, brown glass eyes, wooden wheels hidden on underside of feet, hinged jaw that when opens and closes when silver pull-chain is pulled, causing the bull dog to growl in a "ferocious" manner, and expose his jaws and teeth. French, circa 1890. Excellent condition, a well modeled and preserved example of the classic toy.
