Description
22" (56 cm.) All cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features and hair, stitched ears, painted large brown eyes with dark eye liner, unpainted lashes excepting fringe at bottom rim, thick brows, short painted hair, upturned nose, closed mouth with full lips, very plump body with hip and shoulder stitch-jointing, separated fingers, painted red ankle boots with black outline, antique gown. Condition: good, some craquelure and paint rubs and wear, finger and toe tips worn. Comments: Ella Smith, a very rare early experimental model with unusual over-sized ears, separated fingers, distinctive eye painting, and a charming personality; the doll is featured in Ella Smith and the Alabama Doll Scrapbook by Jacque Shafer.
