13" (33 cm.) All cloth doll with firmly pressed and oil-painted facial features and hair, depicting an infant baby, brown eyes with rich black and brown upper eyeliner, feathered brows, closed mouth with defined space and teeth between the lips, stippled detail of brown baby hair, sculpted ears, baby body with loosely-jointed limbs, antique baby costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Kathe Kruse (foot). Comments: Kathe Kruse, circa 1924, the doll was inspired by the model "Foundling" created by Renaissance artist Andrea del Robbia. Value Points: one of the rarest of Kruse early dolls, having superb definition of sculpting and painting.
