17" (43 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head with rounded facial shape, very full and elongated throat, painted facial features, shaded eyes, black upper eye liner, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, sculpted black hair with braided chignon held by sculpted comb, applied real hair curls to crown, kid slender body, wooden limbs, painted blue shoes, antique greensilk gown, undergarments. Condition: original finish is well preserved, small nose rub, two horizontal paint splits at back shoulder plate. Comments: attributed to Johann Mueller, circa 1840. Value Points: rare and beautiful early paper mache lady with wonderful expression, original coiffure.
