18" (46 cm.) Paper mache head with gofun-finished complexion, very narrow enamel inset eyes, closed mouth, black fiber hair in elaborate arrangement that is drawn away from her face in top wide wings at the sides and captured into a long braid at the back which reaches nearly floor-length, painted detail of stippled hair around the edges. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Japanese, Showa era. Value Points: the beautiful court lady is wearing elaborate multi-layered robes, the outer of ivory brocade with interwoven pattern of motifs and symbols, red trousers, obi, red silk slippers, and is posed upon an original base.
