17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head, dark blue glass paperweight inset eyes, lushly painted dark lashes, dark eyeliner, thickly fringed brows, rose eyeshadow, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with upturned lip corners and accented lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig, cork pate, composition and wooden fully jointed French body, antique cotton and lace frock, undergarments, leather shoes with ankle straps, bonnet. Condition: generally excellent, body is French and of the same period, albeit not Steiner. Marks: Figure C No. 1 J. Steiner Bte SGDG Paris. Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1885. Value Points: especially beautiful bisque enhancing the bright-eyed expression, superb painting.
