Description

18" (46 cm.) Standing upon a wooden platform with red velvet cover is a bisque-headed doll with blue glass paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, appropriately costumed in antique silk fabrics, original knit stockings and silk shoes. She is holding a mirror in one hand and a hankie in the other, and when wound, she turns her head from side to side, nods, and alternately raises the mirror and hankie, while music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 4 (head). Comments: Roullet et Decamps, circa 1890, with bisque head by Jumeau. Value Points: pretty classic automaton with charming music and motion.
