20" (51 cm.) Pale bisque shoulder head with elongated facial shape, cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, lightly feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the pale lips, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid lady body with stitched and separated fingers, antique costume comprising gown, undergarments, pique fringed cape, blue velvet bonnet, stockings, shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J 6. (incised inside front shoulder plate). Comments: maker uncertain, possibly Pierre-Francois Jumeau who exhibited a small group of portrait poupees at the 1867 Paris Exposition. Value Points: very rare portrait poupee in fine large size with superb quality of bisque and painting, unusual expression that is most captivating.
