Description
13" (33 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck, brown sculpted boyish hair, intaglio side-glancing painted eyes, one stroke brows, black upper eyeliner, button nose, closed mouth with "O" hole at center for whistling, muslin body with stitch-jointing, composition hands and lower leg, wearing muslin sailor costume with matching cap. Condition: generally excellent, whistling mechanism lacking. Marks: 5771 Heubach (square) Germany. Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1912, the doll was marketed as "Whistling Jim". Value Points: appealing flirtatious expression enhanced by puckered lips and side-glancing eyes on the rarer model.
