Standing upon a wooden platform painted to simulate a grassy path, is a a bisque-headed Polichinelle with blue glass eyes, open mouth, teeth, nicely painted features, blonde mohair wig, carton torso with front and back classic humps, metal upper arms and legs, carved wooden hands and feet. Polichinelle is posed behind a large marching drum that is posed on a grassy knoll with flowers, wearing classic red and gold silk costume with gilded fringe and lace, matching slippers and tall cap, and holds cymbals and baton. When pulled along on metal wheeled base, Polichinelle turns his head proudly from side to side, beats the drum, and clangs the cymbal. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: F.G. (in scroll) 3. Comments: bisque head by Gaultier Freres, circa 1885, the maker of the distinctively styled pull-toy remains a mystery although an entire series of the colorful and creative pull-toys was created during the era. Value Points: fine unplayed with condition of the sprightly fellow with excellent bisque, original costume and accessories.
