Description

12" (30 cm.) A variation on the preceding doll, this model having two faces, each with glass eyes, one as crying smile, one as laughing child, yet with more dramatic character expressions. The head is inside a paper mache hood that attaches to the body and hides the face not being shown, and the doll wears antique costume and bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1890,from the system registered by Carl Bergner, the faces are startlingly similar to those deposed in France by Leon Casimir Bru. Value Points: a rare example of the multi-face doll with original body and working "mama" crier.
