12" (30 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head with sculpted flat-top brimmed blue and yellow cap of Japanese soldier, black hair peeking from beneath, amber tinted complexion, brown side-glancing googly eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with impish smile, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, wearing blue military uniform with gold braid, leggings, leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Dep Elise J 2/0. Comments: Max Handwerck, circa 1916, from his series of military helmeted googlies. Value Points: rarer model from that series with amber complexion, well-modeled hat, googly expression.
