12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with untinted white bisque, brown glass eyes that open and close in antic clown fashion by pull-strings at back of head, painted lashes, black brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with wide beaming smile, accented lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, well costumed in silk clown suit and cap. Condition: generally excellent, very faint hairline on left forehead under wig. Marks: 1304 S 4 H, Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1900. Value Points: rare model with superb detail of sculpted laughter lines and crinkles especially around eyes, unusual eye mechanism.
