Description

18" (46 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck socket, blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brush-stroked brows, rose blushed eye shadow and chin blush, accented nostrils, open mouth, outlined lips, row of tiny porcelain teeth, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig, carton torso containing clockwork mechanism, kid over metal upper legs, composition arms and lower legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Jules Steiner, his Bebe Gigoteur model, made with motions to simulate the loose-limbed motions of young child who turns head from side to side, waves arms and legs, and cries mama (when key wound), circa 1885. Value Points: well-functioning model with beautiful bisque and painting, wearing superb original costume with matching frock, hat, purse, and rose satin shoes.
