14" (36 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, grey glass sleep eyes, rose eye shadow, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined pale lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, kid body with gusset-jointing, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent, slight repair to right thumb. Marks: 7. Comments: Sonneberg, circa 1885, maker unknown, the doll was designed to capture the French market, and closely resembles the Bru Brevete model. Value Points: beautifully preserved state of the early doll, with fine bisque and sturdy body, wearing lovely silk costume and bonnet, undergarments, knit stockings, leather shoes with makers insignia.
