9" (23 cm.) Bisque shoulder head doll with blonde sculpted hair, painted facial features, wooden block torso with defined waist, wire upper arms, wooden hands, metal hinge-jointed cast iron legs, painted boots. The doll is clasping a wooden balancing stick, and included is a wooden handle with original string for the balancing trick that operates by pulling string through wooden pulley system in lower torso. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1865, several balancing trapeze toys were deposed in France during this era. Value Points: wearing original silk costume, the very rare toy is preserved in its original box with illustration of the performance on the cover.
