The wooden framed toy theatre is decorated with lithographed paper,"Polichinell" banner at the top, and a colorful scene of Cinderella at the base; a crank handle allows the silk fringed curtain to be raised and lowered. Included with the theatre are a group of carved wooden puppets including gentleman with monocle and top hat, soldier with helmet, black man, elongated flying monster with segmented body, wings, glass eyes, and hinged jaws with ferocious teeth, and alligator head with hinged jaw. Also included is paper mache shield with painted Indian head. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: ACN (stamp on shield and theatre). Comments: circa 1890. Value Points: unusual theatre style with crank curtain, rare puppets with great carving and original painting.
