22" (56 cm.) l. x 14"h. A wooden framed grocery store is presented in open front style and having natural wood finish; at the back wall are 18 drawers for various staples each with its original white porcelain name label (in German) and white porcelain drawer pull, along with 8 open bins for storage of other foods. There is a free-standing matching long counter containing brass scale, hanging rack, tin candle holder, brass coffee grinder, and unusual painted tin bird cage with bird. The store is richly detailed with more than 15 miniature labeled tins, and more than 15 labeled bottles, 8 baskets with paper mache fruit, and more. Tinware and treenware populate the store including a rare wooden barrel on stand, and there are two gentleman paper mache store keepers, each with original costume and sculpted sideburns. Excellent condition. Germany, circa 1880.
