7" (18 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, black sculpted hair in short pageboy style with defined painting of irregular bangs onto the forehead, painted facial features, brown side-glancing eyes with glazed highlights on pupils, short stroke black brows, rounded nose, small impish smile, composition five piece toddler body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 71 n/0. Comments: Theodore Recknagel, circa 1918, the comical character represents Max from the childhood stories of Wilhelm Busch. Value Points: rare variation of the distinctive personality enhanced with excellent sculpting and bisque, original body, antique costume.
