Description

8" (20 cm.) larger. Including larger with bisque socket head, sculpted short red bobbed hair with topknot and side curls, painted blue side-glancing eyes, curvy brows, closed mouth with impish smile, composition five piece body, wearing antique costume; and all-bisque with swivel head, sculpted hair in typical Moritz fashion, wonderful facial sculpting with wide beaming smile, loop-jointed bisque arms and legs, painted brown shoes. Condition: larger doll excellent, smaller has tiny flake on topknot, small restorations on right shoulder and left thigh. Marks: 328 (larger). Comments: all-bisque by Kestner, larger likely Recknagel, circa 1912. Value Points: rare pair with wonderful detail of sculpting, representing Moritz from the childhood books by Wilhelm Busch of Germany.
