20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, rounded facial shape and elongated throat, blue glass inset eyes, thick black eyeliner, short painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accented lips, unpierced ears, brunette mohair wig, early composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, antique maroon silk dress, matching bonnet, undergarments, leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 12. Comments: mystery maker, circa 1880, one of the first German child dolls with composition ball-jointed body. Value Points: very beautiful early doll with important historical place, having lovely bisque, original body and body finish.
