22" (56 cm.) Arranged on an ebony wooden base under glass dome is an elaborate arrangement of gilt ormolu figural pieces and trim including doves, all centering on a tufted red velvet cushion on which is resting a bridal coronet. Dresden flowers add further enhancement. Excellent condition. The French tradition of preserving wedding heirlooms in these elaborate settings, known as "globe de mariee" began in the 1800s and lasted more than a century. French, circa 1880.
