Rare French Wooden and Paper Theatre with Mechanical Movement

A wooden case that serves as storage unit for various stage settings and curtains, of engraved and/or painted detail, also contains an unusual mechanical device likely intended to move actors to and fro across the stage. The richly designed paper curtain is labeled "Theatre in Miniature". Very good condition although the mechanical function is not clear. French, mid-19th century, beautifully detailed scenes, curtains and construction of the rare mystery theatre.
