19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head of adult lady with slender face and elongated throat, well-defined facial planes including strong nose, cheek and chin lines, intaglio sculpted eyes with painted pale blue/grey irises, black pupils, incised eyeliner, thick brown upper eyeliner and delicately shaded grey shadow at inside corners of eyes, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with full lips, accent line between the lips, unpierced ears, brunette mohair wig of extended length to waist, adult lady composition body with shapely torso, slender ball-jointed limbs, wearing lovely antique aqua and lace fitted dress, undergarments including corset, aqua kid shoes. Condition: generally excellent. marks: Simon & Halbig S&H 152 7 (head) Heinrich Handwerck (body). Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1910, the doll is believed to be a portrait of Rosa Luxemburg, the Polish-born German intellectual and social reformer of the early 20th century. Value Points: very rare doll with exquisite detail of sculpting and painting, original body and body finish.
