17" (43 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head with flat-cut neck socket, blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, brush stroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, slightly parted lips with accented lips, two rows of tiny teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair fleecy wig, carton torso containing mechanism, kid-over metal hinged upper legs, composition arms and lower legs. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism functions well. Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1885, the model marketed as "Bebe Gigoteur". Value Points: appealing smaller size of the mechanical bebe with realistic baby actions, wears antique gown, has original body finish including Steiner signature white finger and toe nails.
