Description
14" (36 cm.) One piece paper carton head and torso with lustrous painted complexion and facial features, down-glancing blue eyes, simply painted features, remnants of original tacked-on wig, nail-attached small leather arms with wooden "griffe" hands, with two original bonnets. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: the bazaar-quality poupard ably served as a doll for children of poorer families throughout the 19th century, this model circa 1850. Value Points: few examples still exist of the simple doll, this one having fine original state of preservation.
