15" (38 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head of adult woman with oval face, elongated throat, ornately sculpted coiffure with double ringlet curls in front of each sculpted ears and a coiled braid at the back of the head, painted brown eyes, closed mouth with center accent line, accented nostrils, original slender kid body stretched over upper torso form and nailed, elongated legs, kid arms with unusual slit and hinge elbow articulation, wooden "griffe" hands. Condition: very good, some typical fading and rubs, but original finish well preserved overall. Comments: French, circa 1830. Value Points: included with the doll is an antique costume, perfectly fitting and presumably sewn for her but of a later era; the doll has a gentle face and well detailed coiffure.
