16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eye-liner encircles the eye sockets, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with upturned lip corners in slightly smiling expression, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid gusset-jointed poupee body, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: E. Comments: the 1873 depose model of Leon Casimir Bru, with registered smiling expression; although the model had been made for some few years already it was finally registered with the courts in 1873. Value Points: a signature important model of the illustrious Bru firm has choice bisque and painting, original body, and wears beautiful original costume of rich black sateen cotton edged with blue silk, having a demi-train with blue silk bow, matching black velvet toque with blue velvet ribbons, undergarments, kid slippers.
