4" (10 cm.) Lightwood sewing necessaire in the shape of a miniature trunk with lacquered cream finish decorated with gilded dots and striping has embossed cast brass straps, medallion and clasp, and hinges open to a richly silk faille lined interior with two lidded compartments for sewing supplies, one side labeled for various needle sizes, the other displaying a miniature scissors and three bone sewing implements. Excellent condition. Circa 1880.
