Description

22" (56 cm.) A fine walnut armoire with fruitwood veneer and marquetry floral designs has a nicely shaped crown with inlaid crest design, single mirrored door, single drawer, rich bronze mounts, mirror edging, finials and drawer pulls, and its original paper label on the base indicating its provenance from the prestigious Parisian objects d'art store of Alphonse Giroux located  on Boulevard des Capucines; the label indicates that the armoire was produced prior to 1849 when Alphonse was dropped from the store name, according to Encyclopedia of French Dolls, Volume I, page 252. An outstanding early signed furniture with store provenance, circa 1840.
