24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass inset eyes, dark eye-liner, painted lashes, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, plump limbs, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 13. Comments: Sonneberg, Germany, circa 1885, the model was designed to compete with the prosperous French bebe market. Value Points: unusually grand size with fine luminous bisque, very sturdy body, antique costume and wig.
