Description
10" (25 cm.) larger, 7" smaller. Each has solid domed paper mache head (the larger with wax-over), glass enamel eyes, painted brows and lashes, closed mouth, paper mache shoulder plate, lower torso, feet and hands, wooden arms and legs, muslin midriff, upper arms and legs, loosely jointed to simulate infant bodies. Condition: very good, larger has craquelure on face, both with original finish. Comments: Germany, circa 1850. Value Points: wonderful pair of early taufling babies, the larger with sleep eyes that operate from a wire at the back torso, and having original costume; the smaller with early wooden walker, and original undergarments and lace bonnet.
