French Miniature Mechanical School Room with Ten Bisque Dolls

0" (0 cm.) 11"h. x 18"l. A wooden framed schoolhouse, forming a box when closed, hinges open to reveal a slanted roof room with decorative roof line and label "Ecole" . On the interior walls are various charts and maps, and the floor has its original lithographed paper cover. There is a teacher's desk, black board, dunce seat, four wooden double student desks and benches. Accessories include pedestal globe, and school lessons. A bespectacled teacher sits at her desk with rod in hand, and there are nine bisque headed students with mohair wig, glass eyes, paper mache bodies, and cotton costumes. When wound at the back, the teacher turns to and fro, waving the rod, Music plays. Excellent condition. French, circa 1890.
