13" (33 cm.) Each has bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks:  133 (boy) 478 (girl). Comments: circa 1900, made for the French market, the popularity of the Tsar Nicholas and his family in Paris inspired a bounty of Russian themed dolls and costumes for the French market. Value Points:  the dolls wear original elaborate layered Russian folklore costumes with rich metallic and velvet trim, the boy with high leather boots, ornate great coat, and high Cossack hat.
