Pale bisque swivel head with slender oval face and elongated strong throat, on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, unique cut-out of bisque around the crown rim to indicate wig placement, pale blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, thick dark eye liner, painted dark eyelashes, widely feathered brows, mauve blushed eye shadow, strong aquiline nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line and accent dots, dimpled chin, well-modeled pierced ears, original wax over wig pate, antique brunette human hair wig replacing original inserted hair, kid poupee body with gusset jointing at elbows, hips and knees, bisque forearms with well-sculpted fingers and defined knuckles and nails, exquisitely costumed in silk gown with extended train, undergarments, shoes, bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. right hand broken and reglued at knuckles, body original and especially sturdy. Marks: 8 Bte SGDG. Comments: Leverd & Cie, his rare deposed poupee was made for one or two years only, circa 1869. Value Points: an extraordinary doll with unique and distinctive facial sculpting enhanced by superb bisque, painting, eyes, and delicate complexion, original body; few examples of the rare deposed poupee are known to exist.
