20" (51 cm.) Jiggs. Each is all felt with stitch and press-shaped facial features to depict the comic strip figures, painted or felt stitched facial features, well-detailed felt body, cotton and felt costumes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1940's, the amusing figures depict Maggie and Jiggs from the George McManus "Bringing Up Father" comic strip, introduced in 1913 and continued until the early 1950's by McManus, detailing the adventures of the newly-rich Jiggs who just wanted to hang out with his old Irish buddies, and his social-climbing wife Maggie. Value Points: very rare cloth dolls of the humorous couple with wonderfully detailed faces, costumes, and accessories including Maggie's famous wooden rolling pin, and Jiggs' cane and a felt cigar.
