A bisque head doll with brown glass eyes, open mouth, four teeth, blonde mohair wig in jester fashion, five piece paper mache body, bisque hands, wearing a finely made gold and aqua silk jester costume, painted gold pointed shoes, is standing behind a beautifully printed parlor game box Au Nain Jaune as though holding open the lid and showing the contents. Condition: generally excellent, game pieces not included. Marks: 1079 dep S&H (doll) Marque Depose Article Francaise (in triangle) No.17. Comments: circa 1907, the amusing presentation bears the maker's number 17, David, from the membership list of Chambre Syndicale des Fabricants de Jouets & Jeux; the rare piece is shown in Encyclopedia of French Dolls, Volume 1, p.137. Value Points: rare and wonderfully preserved presentation doll with maker's mark.
