14" (36 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with slight enigmatic smile, accented lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, all-wooden poupee body with dowel-articulation at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles, ball-swivel waist, original kid collarette. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1870, both the facial model and the body style were deposed by the illustrious doll-maker. Value Points: rarer petite size of the poupee known as "Smiling Bru", with lovely bisque, original body and body finish, beautiful antique purple silk gown, undergarments, bonnet.
