Description

20" (51 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, brown sculpted hair with forelock detail and enhancing decorative glaze, blue glass enamel eyes in narrow squinting shape, painted long lashes, incised eye-liner, arched brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, slightly parted lips in smiling expression, shaded lips, row of porcelain teeth, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, boy's antique pique suit, undergarments, saddle shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 227 Paris 8 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: SFBJ, circa 1912. Value Points: outstanding example of laughing character with deeply impressed eye crinkles and cheek and mouth dimples, fine luminous patina, original body finish.
