Description

18" (46 cm.) Thick paste porcelain shoulder head with oval-shaped face, elongated throat, brown sculpted hair with arranged finger curls in front of sculpted ears, and the balance of her hair drawn up into a loosely coiled arrangement at the top of her head, painted facial features, muslin body, wooden lower arms and legs. Condition: restoration to the throat and back of shoulderplate, possibly to the side of face. Comments: attributed to Royal Copenhagen, circa 1850, the doll was presented in the Legoland Museum as "Luise Moltke" in homage to her original owner, and possesses an extensive original trousseau comprising white two-piece suit, woolen patterned gown with tiny flowered pattern, night shirt and cap, purple silk gown, rose cotton gown and apron, and two exceptional evening gowns, one having an unusual decoupage of lady's head enhanced by rich embroidery.
