Description

11" (28 cm.) 11"l. excluding tail. Two pressed tin dachshunds with hand-painted finish in shades of brown and black with painted lighter underbelly, and defined eyes and collars, have tiny coil-spring tails, and are attached at the nose with a bone between them. The brown dog is mounted on a two wheel base with mechanism attached, and the black dog has narrow balance wheel. When activated, the dogs move forward and backward, side to side, as though fighting over the bone, while the spring tails wag vigorously. Excellent condition, original paint is wonderfully preserved with few small flakes, mechanism functions well. Germany, Nuremburg, circa 1890.
