6" x 4". A wooden box with blue paper cover and an early tinted engraving and the script word "Panorama" on the slide lid, contains within the optical glass and mirror along with 8 very early delicately tinted engravings of historical sites in Berlin and Rome at the beginning of the 19th century. When positioned in the optical, the engravings became multi-dimensional and "alive". Excellent condition except handle missing. French, circa 1820.
