Description

6" (15 cm.) 6"h. x 5"w. A heavy card-paper closed box with black paper cover and glass front window exhibits a colorful scene of hand-tinted engraving in which a woman is feeding chickens in the farmyard. Her right arm is hinge-attached to her torso, and when sand mechanism is working she moves her arm up and down as though actually tossing the feed she holds in her apron. Condition: box and scene are well preserved with vivid colors. The sand requires an adjustment for proper movement. Comments: identical examples have been found with the Tharins paper label, French, circa 1850.
