An exquisitely carved acrobatic platform supports two interconnected tumbling bars, each with an elaborately carved bone Chinese acrobat, each having rich carving of facial features, costume and shoes, swivel-jointing at shoulders, dowel-jointing at hips and knees. When the balancing rods are turned the acrobats perform in a series in infinite movements. Excellent condition. The detail of platform carving includes the base and exterior sides of support beams. Chinese, mid-19th century.
